Dark and Fire
In the beginning, all was dark. Rich, warm, velvet and silent. The dark was like a blanket, thick and welcoming. It was safe and infinite, welcoming and tender. However, nothing changed in the darkness, no time passed and nothing happened. It was static and endless.
After aeons, suddenly a spark flared bright in the dark, red and gold and orange, a dancing flame appeared. A wonder that burst into existence, creating chaos and change, growth and life in an instant. It started small and grew larger and larger, sending heat and light forth into the waiting, rich and fertile black.
Fire flickered in the stirrings of wind and found fuel in trees that climbed up out of the dark, shooting towards a lightening sky. The fire grew and grew, consuming and billowing, until rain had to fall, to keep it in balance, to stop it from destroying the very world it had created.
And so a land of life appeared, in balance between the light of the fire and the darkness that created it.
