Waxing Crescent Moon Ritual
Ingredients: Spritzer bottle, Cinnamon oil, Vetiver oil, Orange candle, Willow for inscribing, Orange and yellow petals, Aventurine, Carnelian, Lapis lazuli, Ace of Wands tarot card, Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Ground and cleanse yourself and your space, in whatever way feels right. You can go for a walk, smudge, use a cleansing spray, sprinkle salts, meditate, drum, chant, sing, dance, whatever works best for you and the space that you’re in. If you have a shrine or altar, or work in a place in nature, then perhaps you don’t need to cleanse the space. However, you should always ground yourself and prepare the space for working in some way, to get yourself in the right frame of mind and let the spirits know that you are ready to work, as well as raise power and energy to direct into your work.
If you work with circles, then you can cast a circle, however I can also suggest that if you are worried about attracting unwanted attention, you can drum, rattle, clap, sing or dance a circle of power that gives you strength to deal with anything that comes your way. Personally, I have never experienced unwanted presences in any of my workings, rituals or ceremonies.
Throughout working with herbs and crystals, you should connect with them in some way. I like to breathe on them, sometimes hold them in my hands and clap, which works well with oils, and focus my thoughts on them of what I want them to do. Many have a variety of properties and you will get better results from them if you respect them and tell them what you are looking for.
Use a spritzer bottle and add a few drops of cinnamon and vetiver to moon water. Shake it well to mix, and as you do, visualise creativity mixing up inside, waiting to settle inspiration on you.
Cleanse an orange candle and inscribe on it your name, and any symbols, sigils, runes or words such as ‘creativity’, ‘inspiration’, ‘artist’, etc. Use willow to strengthen the connection with creativity. Set it on a flat, heatproof surface. Spray the room with your spray, making sure to shake it well to mix it before each time you use it. Use the petals and crystals (either big stones or chips, or a mix of both) to create a mandala around your candle, allowing your creativity to flow. You can even use cinnamon sticks as a part of it, which will really add a lot of power, fire and immediacy to your intention! Incorporate the Ace of Wands tarot card to invoke the energy of potential and creativity it represents.
Light the candle with intention, and meditate on the flame, the flame of inspiration. Chant the waxing crescent chant, connect with those bright, creative energies. Allow your mind to free flow, keep a notepad and pen by you, jot down notes, make doodles, whatever comes to you. It is pure creativity and inspiration, let it flow without judging whether it is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Ideas will be unformed, but can lead you in exciting new directions.
Let the candle burn until it is gone out. Never blow a candle out - that will end the spell, and it won’t use the full force of your intention. If you need to stop it because you have to go out, snuff it and relight it later with intention. Never leave a candle burning unattended! Ground yourself afterwards by eating or drinking something, and allow yourself to go with the flow afterwards, whatever inspires you.
